Schuyler found an old video that Mark took on his BlackJack a couple years ago. It was taken while we were still in our old office, and it captures an everyday occurrence at Cultivate South Side: Jeff lying on my desk, or any desk for that matter.
Our old office—located in an “office park” in a southwest suburb of Chicago—looked more like the sort of place you might find a financial adviser or an insurance representative. The stark white walls, heavy wood furniture, dark green leather chairs, and gray corporate carpeting didn’t quite reflect our style, let alone the type of work we do.
But one thing our old L-shaped desks permitted, which I had forgotten about until Schuyler shared this video, was for Jeff to sprawl his tall body across my desk. Some days he’d end up on his stomach with his chin in his hands and his ankles crossed in the air. Other days he’d lie on his side, propping up his head with one arm as if posing for Leonardo DiCaprio on the Titanic.
A few times someone unexpectedly came into the office while Jeff was lounging on a desk. They were probably just as alarmed as he was.
